Strategic Alliance between Prinoth and AHWI

AHWI and Prinoth have announced the formation of a strategic alliance for the further global expansion of biomass and sustainable brush cutting and mulching solutions in forestry and agriculture.
Within this context, Prinoth, part of the Leitner Group, is acquiring a 51% stake in AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH.
With this strategic partnership, AHWI gets access to an outstanding international sales and service network as well as to a global production and supplier network.
“The products of the two companies complement each other perfectly,” explains Arthur Willibald, founder and CEO of AHWI GmbH. “While AHWI has a complete product line of mulching equipment and the associated carrier vehicles, Prinoth can expand this selection with its Beaver, a track-driven mulcher, and with its complete spectrum of carrier vehicles for the transport of the biomass that has been harvested. Herdwangen, the town where AHWI is located, will play a fundamental role worldwide as a competence center within the group for biomass processing and soil conservation. By means of the strategic alliance with Prinoth, we are continuing along the path as an international provider of comprehensive vegetation management solutions.”
Werner Amort, president of Prinoth, defined the partnership as “an important step for completing the existing product portfolio. We are expanding the two existing business sectors of snow groomers and tracked carriers by another leg: vegetation and biomass management. The outstanding expertise of AHWI’s employees and its many years of technology leadership were important factors leading to this joint venture deal.”
The president of the Leitner Group, Michael Seeber explains: “With biomass, our Group has now taken another step forward in the renewable energy market, after Leitwind. In so doing, we are making an important contribution to the sustainable and environmentally friendly supply of energy throughout the world.”

AHWI: The Eco-Engineering Experts

AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH was founded in 1990 and has nearly a hundred employees in the town of Herdwangen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
The three core competencies of chopping, recultivating, and recycling form the basis of the development of innovative machines for forestry, infrastructure projects, plantation farming, fire protection projects, wood production for energy, and many other application possibilities.
Just a few weeks ago, a pilot project by AHWI in Namibia was presented by the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dirk Niebel, in the German parliament as a “flagship project”: eight AHWI Harvesters guarantee the comprehensive, ecologically sustainable and environmentally friendly supply of energy to a cement plant. Additional projects in South Africa and India are in the pipeline.
